The Mudgee Regional AIMS Seminar for 2023 was a great success.
The Mudgee Regional AIMS seminar was held on Friday 10th March, 2023. It was a great turnout, and the Parklands Resort was again the perfect venue. Keeping a similar format to previous seminars, it was great to have over 80 delegates in attendance.
Thursday night (9th March) kicked off with a night of socialising and catching up at Three Tails Brewery and Smokehouse. This was a fantastic start with people mingling, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, setting the scene for the presentations to follow on Friday.
Attendees enjoyed the chance to sample the wonderful Mudgee beer and cider from local companies with some amazing American style smoked meats!
Friday morning, we had an early start. Our only paper presentation was from Trevor Collins. Trevor spoke about Underground Inseam Drilling Advances at Narrabri Mine utilising YABBY systems. Trevor spoke about the “old school” ways the drill surveys used to be conducted using single shot photogrammetry and transitioning now to the newer technology of Advanced Mining Technologies DDM Survey Tool. This employs the use of an electronic gyro and inclinometer. The YABBY system takes this a step further by making it intrinsically safe for use in UG Coal mines. Thank you so much to Trevor for providing this paper.
Moving on we had 30 minute presentations from our amazing sponsors. These included Applied Resolution Technologies and Deswik before breaking for morning tea. After morning tea we had presentations from Maptek, Emesent, Position Partners and Caroni. This bought us up to lunch.
Lunch was a great opportunity to catch up with other delegates and also have a one-on-one chat with our sponsors. After lunch presentations resumed from our sponsors UPG, GeoCue Australia, CR Kennedy and AAM, a Woolpert Company.
We had a short break for afternoon tea and then concluded the day with a presentation from John Lupton from GeoSight and finally Nic Tucker and James Sherritt presented a quick update from BOSSI, AIMS and a CPD update.
It was great to see a huge number of delegates and an equally impressive number of sponsors.
Thanks to the seminar coordinator Matt Brown and a huge thank you to the team from Conference Images for another very successful AIMS event!
