2020 Wrap-Up From the AIMS President

shane watson2020 started off like any other year but it soon ended up being a year filled with enormous challenges for each of us, both in our personal lives and careers.

There were necessary changes and restrictions to help protect the community and everyone did their share to help. It has been a long time since a lot of us have been able to visit family and friends. It is great news that with Xmas and New Year break approaching we can reconnect and share the holidays with them.

With the recent AGM and notices sent out hopefully you have seen the recent changes to the AIMS executive. Our new executive will be made up of myself as President, Mick Harris as Vice President, Jonathan van Wyk as Secretary and James Sherritt continuing as Treasurer. Thanks to Mick for stepping into the VP role and welcome to Jonathan to the team.

With new additions and changes unfortunately, it does mean some departures.  Mario Fantin and Chris Moy will be stepping down as Directors of AIMS. Both gentlemen have had a significant impact on how AIMS is run and operated. It is their endless support and dedication that keeps our organisation running and drives us to continue in their absence.  I am sure I say for everyone in our organisation THANKS to Mario and Chris, we wish them the best for the future, and I look forward to catching up sometime in the future for a drink.

Next year we are hoping to bring some normality back to how we operate, and we are hoping to recommence the Regional seminars across the country.  We have started planning the Annual Conference to be held in August 2021 in Surfers Paradise, Queensland.  Obviously this will be in accordance with any government restrictions and we will continue to provide webinars as an alternative for CPD.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Xmas and Happy New Year and I look forward to what 2021 will bring.  Please take care of yourselves and loved ones during the holiday period.
