Fourth year Surveying students at the University of Newcastle had the opportunity to hear from two Registered Mining Surveyors in late March 2025 as part of their Industrial measurement and mine surveying subject.
The visit was initiated by an invitation from lecturer Dr. Mehdi Khaki.
Local Mine Surveyors Chris Nixon and Pete Sergeant joined the lecture to share their experiences in the industry and provided some insights into the day to day work of surveyors employed and contracted to mine sites.
Prior to the lecture, the Australian Institute of Mine Surveyors was pleased to sponsor lunch for students between their lectures.
