Frank Cook, long term AIMS Member and survey examiner has decided it was time to retire.
Frank has worked with the South32 Illawarra Metallurgical Coal operation, formerly BHP Billiton / Illawarra Coal for close to 45 years before hanging up his helmet at the end of September. Starting out as a Survey Trainee at Kemira Valley Colliery in 1973, Frank’s went on to hold roles in survey, technical services and land management.
Jason Economidis, Illawarra Metallurgical Coal Vice-President Operations, said: “Frank’s commitment and loyalty to the business is exceptional and it is not often we get to celebrate 45 years of service.”
Frank was awarded an AIMS fellowship in 2017 in recognition of the many years service to AIMS and the surveying profession. On behalf of the AIMS Board we thank Frank for his dedication and commitment to Mine Surveying and his great contribution in his various roles over the years.
