AIMS Moranbah 2021 Review

Mudgee 2021 180x160After a year off from COVID, AIMS returned to Moranbah in May 2021 with our biggest attendance ever!

Over sixty delegates and nine technology booths made for an informative and successful event at the Central Queensland event.

As always, the latest in technology was there for a “hands-on” experience but also some unique applications of software, hardware and services. The enthusiasm from all who attended was heartening and the unanimous feedback was that, the face-to-face networking and interaction with colleagues and suppliers has been sorely missed.

Additionally Ken Cross, our AIMS Surveyors Board representative, gave an overview and background to the QLD Mines Inspectorate’s combining of Recognised Standard 10 and Guidance Note 19. AIMS has provided feedback on this and continue to express our concerns with the final drafted document. Not all of our input has been taken on board and we are still in communication with the inspectorate about this.

Steve Stegall, Training Advocate from the SBQ, again supported the event with a half day “Registration Candidate Session” with a dozen candidates and supervisors. To have direct contact with the examiner and able to clarify expectations was priceless for the attendees. We appreciate the support of the SBQ who have attended Moranbah every year.

Lastly thank you to Conference Images for running the event and most importantly to all our sponsors who make it possible: CR Kennedy, UPG, Position Partners, Carlson, Maptek, AAM, Aerometrex and GeoCue.

Encouraging signs for a big turnout for our National Conference at the Gold Coast!
