The Surveying qualifications delivered by TAFE throughout Australia, are currently being reviewed by Artibus Innovation, a company engaged by the Federal Government to oversee the development of Vocational Qualifications in Surveying and Spatial Information.
Jo Jensen (AIMS Director), Peter Douglas and Pat Burke are representing WA in the project.
At a meeting at which WA was not represented, participants made a decision to remove the Certificate II in Surveying and SIS, the Certificate III in Surveying and SIS and the Advanced Diploma in Surveying from the suite of qualifications currently being delivered in WA.
The removal of these qualifications would have had a detrimental effect on Surveying in WA and WA surveyors.
At a recent webinar with approx. 50 participants from throughout Australia the decision was made not to continue with this proposal and to retain all qualifications currently available.
However there are still some parties that do not support this stance so your feedback is vital.
We are asking all AIMS Members, particularly our WA members, to complete an updated survey produced by Artibus, supporting the resolutions at the webinar and to ensure that we retain the full suite of TAFE surveying qualifications currently delivered in WA.
Please read the attached document for more information and background. Please access the survey through this link and I encourage you all to answer YES to maintain all the qualifications in question. Can I also ask you to forward this onto all your contacts for their support as well.
The survey can be found at the following link:

Thank you for your support for WA Surveying, if you have any questions in regards to the current proposal please don't hesitate to contact myself or Jo Jensen.
