In September 2019, specialists and professionals in mine surveying, geodesy and mining spheres were invited to take part in the XVII CONGRESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR MINE SURVEYING.
The International Society for Mine Surveying (ISM) has been organising international congresses every three years since 1969. ISM is an association uniting professionals specialising in the mining, mine surveying and geodetic spheres. For the first time in history Russia hosted the International Mine Surveying Congress of the ISM. The city of Irkutsk was chosen as the venue for the Congress. It is the capital city of Eastern Siberia.
Rapid development of the digital twin approach offers mining operations the promise of optimising processes and automating decision making – if they are brave enough. Digital twinning is based on the idea that a digital informational construct of a physical system can be created as a separate entity.
