2022 AIMS SALARY SURVEY

The 2022 AIMS Salary Survey was the 17th survey undertaken by AIMS. The report has been independently compiled and is once again available to download in various formats and filters for added convenience.

2022 Survey Highlights

PARTICIPATION
89 Members completed the survey

AGE
13% of respondents are under 30 years old
16% are over 50 years old

GENDER
3.5% of respondents are female

LOCATION
44% normally work in NSW
22% work in QLD
26% work in WA

EXPERIENCE IN MINE SURVEYING
30% have less than 10 years experience
8% have more than 25 years experience

INDUSTRY TYPE
66% work in opencut (coal or metal)
55% work in underground (coal or metal)

QUALIFICATIONS
75% hold a Bachelor Degree/Masters Degree

REGISTRATION
28% are not registered/endorsed in any state

EMPLOYMENT
87% have additional significant roles
93% are working permanent full-time
22% work in excess of 50 hours per week
5% work in excess of 70 hours per week

QUALIFIED SURVEY SUPPLY
71% flag a shortage of qualified mine surveyors

REMUNERATION
47% have a total salary package in excess of $200k pa

INTRODUCTION

AIMS members were once again invited to provide a snapshot of their current salary package via an online web survey so that information could be collated and this report prepared.

This report aims to represent a general overview of current salary trends in the profession of mine surveying and/or to assist as a potential 'benchmark' in any salary negotiations.

In addition it provides members' feedback on various aspects of AIMS services such as seminars and communications.

The results and summaries are independently compiled and produced. Notwithstanding any errors or omissions, it is an accurate report of the information as provided by the AIMS members who participated in the survey.
