Introduction

In Queensland the Department of Employment Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) through its Tenure Branch administers mining tenures including the issuing of production leases and exploration tenures and the registration of the various plans and documents associated with these tenures. DEEDI also has a Mines Inspectorate which is responsible for mine safety and is also responsible for the collection and preservation of the various statutory mining and petroleum plans produced each year by the Mining and Petroleum companies granted tenures by DEEDI’s Tenure Branch.
