spoil movement

I need to monitor old dragline spoil for any movement over a lengthy period of time . The slope is very weathered so permanent reflectors are not possible. Could anyone give any advice about reflectorless total station vs say I-site Sentry in regard of accuracies/frequency/complexity/labour intensive for surveyor. Is there any other system that has been used.

Hi Rod,

I currently monitor movement of boxcut highwall and low wall (dump) with a scanner and it seams to give me consistent results. This may be worth trying. Please e-mail me on Tinos.Mutyiri@glencore.com.au or call 02 6370 9237 for a chat.

Hi Rodney,

Can you you please let me know if you discovered any modern monitoring systems?
I need to monitor a dam wall for movement over the life of mine.
