Here is a May 2025 CPD update for NSW Registered Mining Surveyors from the AIMS CPD Panel Chairman.
All NSW Registered Mining Surveyors are reminded to complete your CPD requirements for FY25.
Please keep in mind the following upcoming key dates:
- 30 June 2025: CPD return due to AIMS. Late fees may be applicable for returns received after this date. CPD points for FY25 cannot be obtained after this date.
- 31 July 2025: All applications for Conditional Compliance or Exemption must be received by BOSSI. As part of the application, you will be required to submit a partial CPD certificate of points obtained to date, ratified by AIMS.
- 31 August 2025: Registration renewals due to BOSSI.
Keep in mind that there is a 2-3 week turnaround on AIMS supplying a CPD certificate for renewal/conditional compliance. Please allow enough time to obtain a certificate to submit to BOSSI prior to the required due date.
For surveyors who weren’t able to attend the AIMS National Conference in Perth, there have been a number of queries regarding ways to obtain the 5.0 Mine Survey points required for FY25. In past years, the Hunter Valley and Mudgee Regional Seminars would cover the shortfall of points required for those that didn’t attend the National Conference, however in FY25, this was not the case.
Alternate methods of obtaining Mine Survey points include:
- the Triennial Mine Subsidence Technological Society Conference in the Hunter Valley in May (see event page for CPD details).
- there have been numerous external webinars assessed for CPD points by AIMS in FY25. These are listed in the CPD Calendar in the CPD Resources section of the website and can be viewed as pre-recorded DM3 webinars. (Links not provided, but all can be found via a Google search).
- book an on-site surveying technology demo with a supplier or organise some on-site mine survey tailored training (subject to formal CPD assessment).
- present a paper at future conferences/seminars - presentations with Mine Survey content can also obtain additional Mine Survey points for preparing the paper.
