Career to date?
24 years survey industry in various roles in metal, coal, opencut and underground mines
Career highlight (biggest achievement)?
Setting up a drainage drive from a mountain side to break through existing workings over 1km long, and using one of the first Geodimeter 4000 system in Australia (i.e. one man system).
Career shocker?
Changing a curved decline to a flat one

Earn more than engineers and develop junior surveyors

If you were the boss for a day - list 3 things you would change?
- Ensure engineers designs actual work/fit in the real world.
- Make sure that engineers get more than once a week dose of vitamin E (i.e. get them out of the office more often)
- Stop putting in pegs that are never used.
APART from $$, what factor attracts you to work in the mining industry as opposed to other survey disciplines?
The opportunity to gain experience on new technology in the surveying industry.
Would you recommend a career in surveying to a grade 12 school kid? If not, what career would you recommend?
Yes, you work outdoors and enjoy the sunshine.
